Malinalco is the name of a pretty and old town. It is also the name of an archaeological zone on top of one of the town's mountains.
I went with a group from Toluca and we arrived with only enough time to go up the mountain path to the top. I didn't take pictures of the path because the view from the path and on top was amazing.
I hope to go back soon not only for more pictures, but I'd love to own a little house with a view of those amazing mountains!
I believe it was late August or September this year, 2007.

Geraldo looking Macho
This is Geraldo looking macho, but really he is resting after walking the long path up the mountain. He's wearing the baseball cap I got him in San Antonio Texas.

Mountains next to Malinalco
It appears that there is a cave. You can't walk across. There is a drop off that isn't very obvious in the photo, but it is in person. After getting close to the drop off I saw that there is a narrow path that leads to the mountainside in the photo but it is blocked with a sign saying that it is prohibited.
The side of the Malinalco ruins
It appears that half of the ruins were built into the cliff. I only wish we were allowed to go all the way up.
Malinalco Ruins with Mountain Peaks
This is another of my favorites. This is taken looking back toward the entrance to the Malinalco archaeological zone.
Mountains through the Trees
This was taken from the path going up the mountain. I was awestruck with Malinalco's majestic landscapes.

Doesn't this view make you want to go there?

Malinalco Town from Above
This is part of the view taken from the second building in the Malinalco ruins. Sorry about the man sitting on the edge.
Note: A man is sitting on the edge of the photo.

I'm actually in this photo. I asked Geraldo to take it.
Mountain View with Two Men in Front
Ok, the name of this photo is a little tongue-in-cheek, but I was a little sad that these two men didn't get up so I could take the perfect photo. Even with them sitting there chatting away on top of the second building, It is STILL a great photo.
Malinalco Trees and Mountain Horizon
This was also taken from on top of the second building of the Malinalco archaeological zone.

Malinalco Ruins Path up to Peak
This path is very steep and you can see the signs that tell you to go no higher. There are rubber mats to help keep you from falling.
You can fallow the view of the stone steps to the peak in other photos in this gallery!
Two Women at Malinalco
A middle aged woman and an elderly woman who is her mother slowly go up to the first landing. It isn't easy because they are steep and narrow. I had trouble getting down from there (getting up isn't that hard for someone who is young).
This view centers on them and their determination.
Two Women at Malinalco
A middle aged woman and an elderly woman who is her mother were going up to the first landing as permitted. I was so afraid that they'd fall, but they went up slowly. Admire her mother's determination.

Malinalco Ruins Path up to Peak - The Top?
This is the last part of the stone steps leading to the peak from the ruins. We aren't allowed to go that high.
