Images taken in a two hour period, early Monday morning, November 12, 2007 in Barichara, Colombia. Patricia and I were staying there, at a friends "Country Home", for the weekend. Unlike Bucaramanga, Patricia actually let me go wandering around with my camera. There are a total of 12 images, culled from about 60, displayed in the order that they were taken.

The first thing I noticed when I left the house was this goat, standing in the middle of the road. I had to get closer to it before knowing whether it was tied up or not. Luckily, it was, not because it was a danger, but because it was extremely friendly and probably would have followed me all over town. I wouldn't have gotten too many candid shots, being too noticeable- Un Gringo con una cabra (A Gringo with a goat)...lol.

For me this is one of my "I got lucky" shots. I love the contrast between the animals- size, stance, color, direction of gaze,...

The man driving the cattle, seemed a little irritated that the Gringo wanted a picture of a poor man working. I don't consider him poor at all. He lives in a beautiful place and is surrounded by year-round free food.

Based on his actions, before sitting, this man seemed to be waiting on a ride. He's not rich enough to own a car, like his neighbor.

Considering the cultures of Colombia, the older woman is likely cleaning in front of her business and the younger one is likely on her way to work for someone else.

This is the image that gave me the idea to organize this group of photographs into a series. The day of rest is over for the sweeper, so time to get back to work. The day of partying is over, for the people who left the mess for him. No church service today, but the church is still there.

A lady walking past the church that she probably worshiped in, the day before. It was the main reason for my walk. I had seen it the night before, when Patricia and I were out walking.

In the church I really liked the light across the bottom of this statue, and especially the triangle of light below. She is alone right now, but people with prayers will be along shortly.
A Monday Morning in Barichara 9
The church is open, but no one is entering right now. Maybe later, when the morning chores are done.

This woman is using a bucket and bowl to water flowers in the park. That area won't have any shade for about 6 hours, so they really need it.

When I passed by this home construction site earlier, the workers were just waking up. It's common in Colombia for workers to "camp" at the construction site. Now, on my return, they were already hard at work. Hopefully, they are also enjoying the great view.

These two men are likely on their way to work. If it is in another town, they will walk to the main road and wave down one of the many buses.
